Tired of dealing with wholesale dairy giants slashing their prices and undermining the viability of his Eastleigh Farm, Doug Stephan wants to sell raw milk at the historic Northside operation.
Stephan bought the farm four-and-a-half years ago to preserve the bucolic north Framingham of his youth -- cows and all -- and to prevent the property from being developed.
But selling to the dairy conglomerates is a losing proposition nowadays, says Stephan.

Saputo (TSX:SAP) and Kraft aren't taking no for an answer and have appealed a Federal Court ruling that upheld new federal cheese regulations.
The large cheese makers want the Federal Court of Appeal to overturn an October ruling that dismissed their objections to rules regarding the content of both domestic and imported cheese.
"We continue to believe in our position in this case so we will await a higher court decision," Saputo spokeswoman Karine Vachon said Friday.

Whitey's Ice Cream owners Jeff and Jon Tunberg wanted to give troops at Fort Bliss a sweet send off to Iraq and Afghanistan.
So from their ice cream plant in Moline, they shipped 360 gallons -- some 6,000 scoops -- of Sgt. Camo Ice Cream to Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.
The brothers also were there Friday to say "thank you" and personally hand out their new camouflaged colored ice cream to military members and their families.
